Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program OINP

Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program OINP, an economic immigration program designated to improve the economic as well as labour market development of Ontario. Thanks to this program, the province of Ontario can nominate skilled and experienced individuals for Permanent Residence. OINP selects pertinent workers for them contribute to improvements of Ontario’s economy.

The Province of Ontario operates the OINP in collaboration with the Federal Government through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). After the nomination of candidates, those candidates can then apply for permanent residence through IRCC, therefore IRCC will make the final decision on each application and consequently issue permanent residence to successful applicants.

For more efficient processing of applications, the International PhD Graduate, International Masters Graduate, and Human Capital Priorities streams will pause and reopen periodically.

Approved employers can recruit prospective candidates as well as individuals and international students may apply through several streams for the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program OINP, such as:

  • General Category
  • International with a Job Offer (International Students)
  • French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream – Ontario’s Express Entry
  • Human Capital Priorities Stream – Ontario’s Express Entry
  • Entrepreneur Stream
  • International Masters Graduates Stream
  • International PhD Graduates Stream

Employers

OINP helps to assist employers who are having difficulty recruiting skilled workers in Ontario. Employers can recruit through the program foreign workers in any managerial, professional as well as skilled trades occupation in reference to the NOC 0, A or B categories.

This program allows employers to:

  • Apply for the approval of permanent, full-time positions to be filled by foreign nationals
  • Recruit foreign nationals to fill those positions

Employers can recruit prospective candidates through the General Category and the International with a Job Offer.

General Category

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program application under the General Category is a two-step process:

  • Employers must submit a pre-screen application
  • Employees must submit a Nominee Application Package

International with a Job Offer (International Students)

This program gives the opportunity to international students with a job offer to permanently live and work in Ontario.

N.B.: Applicants can only apply if they got an approved permanent full-time job offer from an Ontario employer, or from a business receiving an approval investment in Ontario.

The application fee for international students with a job offer is 1500$CAD.

Investors

Through the program, investors can recruit foreign workers in any managerial, professional or skilled trades occupation in reference to the NOC 0, A or B categories.
Investors can recruits migrant workers through the General Category.

Entrepreneurs

Entrepreneurs from outside of Canada may be eligible to apply for the Permanent Residence through OINP – Entrepreneur Stream.
The OINP – Entrepreneur Stream applies for candidates who are looking to build or buy a business in Ontario. This program offers to entrepreneurs to receive the nomination for Permanent Resident status once their own business is well-establish in the Province.

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program application is a two-stage process.

Individuals

Applicants who may be eligible for the Permanent Residence under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program must:

  • Be recruited by Canadian employer
  • Meet all the OINP requirements

Unless they are applying as international students through the International Masters Graduates as well as International PhD Graduates Streams.

After received the nomination, applicants must then apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
IRCC will assess thoroughly health and security of each applicant in order to grant permanent residence.
Nominees can also apply to IRCC to get a temporary work permit while their permanent residence application is being processed.
